Technology Exploration Division
Entries in this division
must contain work done in an industrial technology exploration lab
course. A complete set of drawings must accompany each project,
but the drawings for the entry will not be considered a material
area or scored as such. Laminated bow are to be
interested in OD-1
TE-1 Material Combination Project - Scoring Guide for TE-1
An entry in this classification must involve work in two or more
technology lab material areas. Example: (A lamp constructed of
wood and plastic would represent two material areas and the
electrical wiring would represent the third material area.) This
project must be made in a technology exploration lab course rather
than a unit lab course. Groups eligible to participate A,
N, P and E
TE-2 Multiple Projects - Scoring Guide for TE-2
A student may enter two or three separate projects produced from
the various technical areas. Example: (One project from the
graphic arts area, one from the electronics area, one from the
power area, etc.) These projects must be made in a technology
exploration lab course (multiple areas of study) rather than a
unit shop (a single area of study class ie: woods, metals,
etc). Groups eligible to participate A, N, P and E
TE-3 Mass Produced Projects - Scoring Guide for TE-3
An entry in this classification must involve work from a
technology exploration lab group of 5 or more students which
planned and constructed a mass production project. The best three
of the mass produced run should be entered for judging. Groups
eligible to participate A, N, and P

Art Metal/Jewelry - Ceramics - Leather: Scoring Guide for Ind.Crafts
Entries in this division are representatives of the various crafts
areas of art and industry. Any projects made of art metal, ceramics,
jewelry, or leather. Projects produced (cut, etched, carved, etc) by
computer should be entered in the CNC Division. Drawings, patterns,
plans are included in computer exclusion.
IC-1 Art Metal - Jewelry; Any project made of
metal which involves etching, decorative peening, piercing, tooling,
spinning, or similar operations is eligible. Examples: wall plaque,
or spun dish. Or Jewelry project involving the material processes
and operations associated with the making of jewelry is eligible.
Examples: Rings, broaches, bracelets, or earrings. Drawings, plans,
or patterns are required. Scoring Guide for Ind.Crafts
Groups eligible to participate N & P
IC-2 Ceramics; Any project involving the process of
greenware molding and firing associated with ceramics is eligible.
Examples: Ash trays, bowl, vases, dinnerware, or figurines. If
auxiliary equipment is student made, such as a mold, it should be
included with the project.Scoring

Groups eligible to participate N & P
IC-3 Leather; Any project made of leather which
involves the manipulative processes associated with leathercraft,
including tooling, embossing, carving, dying, or lacing is eligible.
Examples: Billfolds, handbags, belts, or key carrier. Note: Kits
must be identified with construction plans in leather projects. Scoring

PL-1 - Plastics Technology: Groups eligible
to participate A, N & E
Any entry which includes casting, inlaying, shaping, forming, or
carving is eligible. A complete set of plans must accompany the
project. Any casting that was produced from a student made mold must
be accompanied by that mold. All other castings will be assumed to
have been produced from commercial molds and therefore do not
require a drawing. Examples: (Paperweight, bookends, night lamp,
penholder, earrings, or broach.) Or any entry in which industrial
processes or forming and fabrication of plastic are the major
operations required is eligible. Also included are thermoforming,
injection molding, compression molding, and transfer molding
articles. Student-made molds must accompany the project. Examples:
(Picture frames, bookends, bowl, vase, lamp, or any item
representing the commercial or industrial processes and uses of
plastics.) A complete set of plans must accompany the project. Scoring Guide for PL-1
3D printed projects should be entered in
MD-3: 3D Mechanical Drawing Presentation: Solid Modeling /
Animation / 3D Printed Projects; . These entries should be of
the students own creation, and include drawings with
dimensions.
