Architectural Design & Drafting Division

Entries in the classification within this division which include more than one sheet must be bound together along the upper, middle, and lower left-hand edge of the completed set. Small drawings should be on top with larger drawings on the bottom. Drawings must be kept flat. "No title blocks containing personal identification data will be allowed.  A single line border or no border is recommended, "No school graphics or names maybe included on the drawings or cover sheets" violation of this guideline will result in a 10 pt. penalty for the violation . If tracing media is used and the original drawing is not directly on tracing media, the original must be the student's work. Indication must be made whether or not the work submitted is original. Specifications and schedules must be included. Sheet size must NOT be greater than 24" x 36". Drawings are not to be mounted.

AD-1 Architectural Board Drawings: Scoring guide for AD-1 
This classification is for students in there 1st year of architectural board drafting. It is for projects such as small out building, storage building, detached garage, studio, granny house, or other types of small residential or commercial buildings.. Working drawings should be in pencil or ink on tracing media and should include a minimum of the following drawings: Entries from should include the following plans floor plan, two elevations, door and window Schedule and typical wall section, other detail drawings may be included but not required, and may be considered during evaluation.  Groups eligible to participate:

AD-2 Architectural Design and Engineering "Computer Aided Drafting": Scoring Guide for AD-2
This classification is for students in architectural drafting. It is for projects such as residential or small commercial buildings. Working drawings should be on plotter media and should include a minimum of the following drawings: Sheet size must not be greater than 24" x 36". Drawings are not to be mounted. Specifications and schedules must be included.

    *AD-2: Groups A and N requirements: This classification is for students in there 1st year of architectural CAD drafting. It is for projects such as small out building, storage building, detached garage, studio, granny house, or other types of small residential or commercial buildings. Working drawings should be on plotter media and should include a minimum of the following drawings: (floor plan, two elevations, and typical wall section). Other detail drawings may be included but not required, and may be considered during evaluation. Specifications and schedules must be included.

    *AD-2: Groups P and D requirements: This classification is for students in architectural drafting with more than one year of architectural CAD drafting. It is for projects such as residential or commercial buildings. Working drawings should be on plotter media and should include a minimum of the following drawings, floor plan, four elevations, foundation or basement plan, typical wall section, door and window schedules. Sheet size must not be greater than 24" x 36". Drawings are not to be mounted. Specifications and schedules must be included, and detail drawings of stairs, fireplaces, cabinetry, and/or any additional information to clarify construction requirements are encouraged.

This classification is for students in a Gateway to Technology, EbD, or Architectural Design and Drafting program. Drawings and/or 3d Computer Generated Models or Scale Architectural Models entries in this classification are for the presentation of a residence or commercial design shown by an architect or engineer to his client. The entry should include all necessary information and drawings to indicate the scope of the project. The entry must include plan with dimensions,  the size must not be greater than 24" x 36". Drawings are not to be mounted. Indication must be made whether or not the work submitted is original.

* Submissions maybe a perspective drawing(s) printed on any visual media, 3D model rendered on computer or Scaled Architectural Model’s are allowed.

AD-4 Architectural Group/Team Engineering Design Problem Project

Using the Engineering Design Process : Groups eligible to participate: A and N

This classification is for students in a Gateway to Technology, EbD, PLTW or Architectural Design and Drafting program. Drawings and/or 3d Computer Generated Scale Architectural Models entries in this classification are for the presentation of a residence or commercial design shown by an architect to his client, or a solution to solve a problem. The entry should include all necessary information and drawings to indicate the scope of the project. The entry must include plans with dimensions, the size must not be greater than 24" x 36". Drawings are not to be mounted but should neatly bind together with all relevant material. All work submitted must be original ideas developed by design team. Scoring Guide for AD-4


Group (A) - Middle School: 6th, 7th or 8th grade.
Group (N) - Novice or Amateur: This entry area is for the 1st year the student is in the class. -  a student who is new to the circumstances, work, etc., in which he or she is placed; a beginner; tyro: or a novice in the entry area. This entry area is for the 1st year the student has entered in this project area.
Group (P)Practiced or Experienced: This entry area is for the 2nd year the student is in the classstudent is skilled or proficient through practice or experience. This entry area is for the student has entered in this project area more than once.
Group (D) - Advanced: This entry area is for the student is in a Career or Vocational program.
